AI chatbot and live chat for WordPress. Answer from your pages, capture leads by email, and join any conversation. Free plan, no AI keys.

== Description ==

**Answer visitors. Capture leads. Learn what your website is missing.**

Stand Chat combines an AI chatbot with live chat for WordPress. Your assistant answers from the pages you choose. Watch conversations, step in when someone needs you, and get contact requests by email.

For small teams, consultants and agencies that turn website conversations into customers.

**Start free: AI, live chat and lead capture included. No credit card, coding or AI provider account required.**

= Help visitors take the next step =

* **Answers from your content.** Give your assistant a short briefing and choose your services, pricing or FAQ pages. It uses them to answer visitors' questions.
* **Human takeover.** Answer new chats when available; let AI cover when you're away. Watch any AI chat, take over immediately, or offer to join with the visitor's permission.
* **New-chat alerts wherever you work.** Install Stand as a web app on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac or Windows using a supported browser. Enable push notifications so you can hear about new chats and jump in.
* **Leads by email.** When a visitor wants a person to get back to them, your assistant collects their details and emails you.
* **Your assistant, your voice.** Choose its name, look, greeting and tone. We call it a Stand-in; visitors always see an AI badge.
* **Welcome international visitors.** AI replies support 100+ languages. Chat controls are translated into 10 languages, and the widget adapts to mobile screens.

= Made for the way you work in WordPress =

* **Chat beside your content.** Use the corner widget or add a Stand button, card or embedded chatbox beside pricing, services or contact information. Three blocks, with matching shortcodes.
* **Page-specific behavior.** Set greetings, time or scroll triggers, and chat size from the block editor. Choose where the corner widget appears.
* **Keep answers current.** Pick the pages your assistant reads, see which have changed, and enable automatic rereading after you publish an update.
* **Status at a glance.** See whether chat is live, who answers, your usage and anything that needs attention.
* **Fit your existing site.** Includes WP Consent API integration, compatibility helpers for popular cache plugins, and chat hidden by default on staging sites.

Configure your assistant in WordPress. Answer visitors, review conversation history and manage your team in the [Stand app](https://app.stand.chat). Teammates and sites are unlimited on every plan.

= Turn conversations into a better website =

Visitors' questions reveal what your pages leave unanswered: confusing pricing, missing details, objections and reasons to hesitate. Review conversations to find those gaps, then improve your FAQs, service descriptions and website copy. Every chat is a chance to learn what people need before they become customers.

**Bring your own AI analyst.** Use ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant with API or CLI tools to analyze your Stand conversations and report insights. Authorize access through Stand's public API or CLI, then ask for recurring questions, common objections or suggested website improvements, backed by examples from your chats. API and CLI access is included on every plan. [API guide](https://stand.chat/guide/account-api) | [CLI guide](https://stand.chat/guide/cli).

= Start free, grow when you need to =

The free plan includes **15 full conversations a week** and up to **10 website pages** for your assistant to read. A conversation counts once, whether AI, a person or both answer. The free widget includes "Powered by Stand".

**Optional Pro: $10/month** for 150 conversations, up to 200 pages, document and sitemap sources, and branding removal. In the Stand app, Pro also adds alerts for topics you choose and AI digests that help you spot recurring questions and objections. Try Pro for 7 days without a card. **Get started:** connect your free Stand account, brief your assistant, pick its pages and go live. No API keys or separate AI bills.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Is it really free? Do I need a credit card? =

Yes. The free plan has no trial deadline and needs no card. When available chats run out, new chats pause until the next reset or an eligible paid top-up; conversations already underway continue.

= Do I need an API key or an AI account? =

No. Create a free Stand account during setup. Stand runs the AI, with no separate provider account, key or token bill.

= Where do I answer chats? =

In the [Stand app](https://app.stand.chat), on desktop or mobile. Set yourself Available to answer new chats first; enable AI coverage for when you're away.

= Can I install Stand on my phone or computer and get notifications? =

Yes. Open app.stand.chat in a supported browser and use its Install app, Add to Home Screen or Add to Dock option. On iPhone and iPad (iOS/iPadOS 16.4+), add Stand to the Home Screen from Safari and open it from the new icon. Turn on Notifications in Stand and allow them on your device. You can also enable alerts for new AI-handled conversations in notification settings.

= What can my AI assistant learn? =

It uses your briefing and the public pages you choose. Pro also supports sitemap and document sources; manage documents in the Stand app. WordPress removes unpublished or password-protected pages from its knowledge, retrying if Stand is temporarily unreachable.

= Can I use it with a page builder or the Classic editor? =

Yes. Alongside the three WordPress blocks, use [stand_button], [stand_card] and [stand_chatbox] wherever your editor or page builder supports shortcodes. The corner widget works without adding a block.

= Does it work with caching and cookie consent? =

The plugin includes chat-script exclusions for WP Rocket, Autoptimize, LiteSpeed Cache, SiteGround Optimizer and Cloudflare Rocket Loader. A small-loader option is available under Settings → Advanced. Consent-based loading uses the WP Consent API and is checked in the visitor's browser, including on cached pages.

= How does Stand handle privacy? =

Stand's [DPA](https://stand.chat/dpa) describes its role as your processor, and the [subprocessor list](https://stand.chat/subprocessors) names providers and processing locations. You can require cookie consent before loading chat. WordPress Settings → Privacy → Policy Guide includes suggested policy text. See External services below for what the plugin sends and when.

= Why am I asked to reconnect after 30 days? =

The WordPress account connection expires after 30 days, with a reminder a week before. Reconnect to keep managing your assistant from WordPress. The chat already installed on your site keeps working.

== External services ==

This plugin connects your site to Stand Chat, a service by Stand Chat, Inc.

* cdn.stand.chat: loads the chat widget on your public pages, where you turn chat on. The visitor's browser sends its IP address and browser details with the request.
* api.stand.chat (HTTPS and WebSocket): checks who can answer on each page view (page address and Site ID), records widget events, and carries chat messages when a visitor chats. When you connect your account, the WordPress server also uses it, as you, to manage this site's Stand-ins, the pages they read and your chat settings.
* stand.chat: account registration, when you choose Create your free account. After signing up, return to WordPress and choose Connect your account.
* app.stand.chat and auth.stand.chat: sign-in, profile setup and connecting your account, when you choose Connect your account. While connected, the WordPress server renews its access to Stand at auth.stand.chat.
* fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com: the chat widget's font.
* When you turn on "Tell Stand who logged-in visitors are", the chat also sends a logged-in visitor's display name and a private ID derived from their WordPress user ID. It never sends email addresses or passwords.
* Your Stand account can include owner-approved custom JavaScript for chat behavior, which Stand then runs on your site. This plugin does not create or edit it, and on a site that has it, chat behavior changes only in Stand.
