1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Stand Chat Inc. ("Stand", "Stand Chat", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use Stand Chat, including our websites, apps, embeddable chat widget, and API (the "Service"). The Service is offered at stand.chat.

2. Roles: Customers and Stand Chat

Stand’s customers are the businesses whose users use the Service and/or whose websites host the Stand Chat widget. Those businesses decide what data to collect, what content appears on their sites, and how chat conversations are used. Stand Chat does not control those websites or who visits them ("visitors").

Here, “users” means representatives of our customers (including reps and admins) who access the Service.

When a customer embeds Stand Chat, Stand acts as a service provider or processor for that customer’s data, including chat content stored in our systems. Visitors should review the customer’s privacy policy for details about that customer’s practices.

If you are a visitor to a customer’s website, direct data requests (such as access, deletion, or correction) to that customer. Stand processes data on the customer’s behalf and does not respond to visitor requests directly unless required by law.

3. Information We Collect

We may collect:

  • Account information (name, email, organization) for users.
  • Chat content and related metadata (timestamps, session identifiers).
  • Usage data such as pages viewed, feature usage, and device/browser details.
  • Billing information for paid plans (processed by our payment provider).
  • Support communications and feedback you send to us.

4. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
  • Authenticate users and secure accounts.
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • Improve performance, quality, and user experience.
  • Provide support, respond to requests, and communicate updates.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

5. Legal Bases (EEA/UK)

If you are in the EEA or UK, we process personal data based on legal grounds such as providing the Service (contract), our legitimate interests (e.g., security, analytics, and product improvement), your consent (where required), and compliance with legal obligations.

6. AI Features

If you enable AI features, your inputs may be processed to generate AI outputs. AI outputs may be inaccurate and should be monitored by your team. You remain responsible for any decisions made based on AI outputs and are expected to clarify or correct AI communications shared with your visitors.

7. Sharing of Information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers that help us run the Service (hosting and payment processing).
  • Your organization’s authorized users and administrators.
  • Law enforcement or regulators when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
  • A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

We do not sell personal information.

8. Cookies and Analytics

We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember preferences, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Some features may not function properly without cookies.

Where required by law, we will ask for consent before using non-essential cookies.

9. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a Do Not Track ("DNT") setting. The Service does not respond to DNT signals at this time.

10. Subprocessors and Data Processing

We use vendors (subprocessors) to help provide the Service. We require appropriate safeguards with these providers. If you are a business customer, a data processing addendum (DPA) is available on request at privacy@stand.chat.

11. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Data retention periods may vary by plan or customer configuration.

12. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. International Transfers

If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where we or our service providers operate.

14. Your Choices

You can update account information, manage preferences, or request access, correction, or deletion of personal information by contacting us. Some requests may be subject to legal or contractual restrictions.

15. EEA/UK Privacy Rights

If you are in the EEA or UK, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

16. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to access, delete, or correct certain personal information and to opt out of certain sharing. 17. Children’s Privacy

The Service is intended for business use only and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate action.

18. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide additional notice when appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after the changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
