What retention controls
Stand applies one retention period to the organization’s closed chat content. A scheduled retention process identifies sessions older than the effective period and clears message content and visitor-supplied fields from the searchable record.
The default is 90 days. The dashboard offers fixed retention presets rather than an arbitrary number of days, and periods longer than 90 days are plan-gated.
Plan boundaries
| Plan | Selectable retention |
|---|---|
| Base | 90 days (default). |
| Pro | 90, 180, 365, 1,095, or 1,825 days. |
| Business | 90, 180, 365, 1,095, or 1,825 days. |
Change the period
- Open Team as the owner and edit Privacy & retention.
- Choose one of the retention periods available for the organization’s plan.
- Saving an increase beyond 90 days opens a confirmation explaining the additional privacy responsibility.
- Confirm and save, then review the summary showing the active number of days.
- Choose the shortest available period that meets the organization’s actual operational need.
Effects on Stand data
- History search and detail can only show retained conversation content.
- Digest evidence and AI analysis depend on source conversations still available for the covered period.
- Exports made before expiration remain outside Stand until the customer deletes them.
- Changing to a longer period cannot restore content that was already cleared under a shorter policy.
Boundaries and downgrade behavior
- Only owners can change retention.
- The dashboard does not offer a custom retention period outside the listed presets.
- A non-entitled organization cannot save more than 90 days; the effective service value is bounded by plan access.
- Retention applies to chat content, not necessarily every operational, billing, security, or legally required record.
- Residual backup copies can follow Stand’s ordinary backup lifecycle rather than disappearing at the exact searchable-retention instant.
